About Ethnomusicology Symposium @ The University of Dar es Salaam:
International Ethnomusicology Symposium 2012, presented by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts of the University of Dar es Salaam will take place from the 31st of July to the 4th of August 2012.
The Symposium, held in the facilities of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, will offer academic papers on the music traditions of Africa plus many performances by local and international musicians.
There will be two main areas of emphasis this year: 1. Music Education and the Study of African Music, and 2. African Choral Music Traditions. A number of papers will also focus on the field of Ethnomusicology in Africa, in general.
Participation in the Symposium and Symposium concerts are free and all are welcome.
Keynote speakers: Prof. Gerhard Kubik and Prof. Frank Gunderson
